Oxygen concentrators for hyperbaric therapy

How the all-in-one oxygen concentrator works with a hyperbaric chamber, what 93% oxygen purity and flow rate mean, and why it is included with CONSIDER soft chambers.

A hyperbaric chamber raises pressure; an oxygen concentrator raises the concentration of oxygen you breathe. You need both. This guide explains how the concentrator works, what its specifications mean, and how it is packaged with CONSIDER chambers.

Why a concentrator is essential

Ambient air is only about 21% oxygen. Pressurizing a chamber alone increases the oxygen you absorb, but pairing it with concentrated oxygen multiplies the effect. That is the whole principle behind HBOT — explained from the top in what is hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Without a concentrator, a chamber is only doing half the job.

Breathing concentrated oxygen at normal pressure is called normobaric oxygen. The chamber is what makes it hyperbaric — see HBOT vs normobaric oxygen for the difference.

The all-in-one design

Every CONSIDER soft chamber ships with an all-in-one machine that combines the air compressor and the oxygen concentrator in a single quiet, oil-free unit. It pressurizes the chamber and delivers up to 93% oxygen through a mask at the same time — no separate equipment to source or match. The COSL15 and COSE15 both include this unit.

Flow and purity: what the numbers mean

SpecTypical valueWhat it means
Oxygen purityup to 93%How concentrated the oxygen you breathe is
Flow rate1 – 10 L/min adjustableHow much oxygen is delivered per minute
OperationOil-free, low-noiseSuitable for quiet home environments

For most personal and professional use, up to 93% purity with an adjustable 1–10 L/min flow is the standard to look for. Higher flow is useful where multiple users or longer sessions are involved.

Concentrators in hard-shell systems

Hard-shell single-person and multiplace chambers integrate oxygen delivery into the system rather than using a portable unit, with clinic-grade controls. The COHT20 is a good example of an integrated-oxygen hard-shell.
