Hyperbaric chamber maintenance and care

Practical maintenance tips for hyperbaric chambers: cleaning the cabin, caring for the oxygen concentrator, checking zippers, seals and valves, and a simple routine schedule.

A hyperbaric chamber is built for years of daily use, and a little routine care keeps it performing and safe. This guide covers the simple maintenance that owners and clinics should build into their schedule, for both soft and hard-shell systems.

Keeping the cabin clean

Wipe interior surfaces regularly with a suitable, non-abrasive cleaner. Soft chambers use easy-to-clean materials; hard-shell cabins have hygienic, smooth interiors designed for frequent cleaning between clients. A clean cabin is more pleasant and helps materials last.

Caring for the oxygen unit

The all-in-one machine or oxygen concentrator is the heart of the system. Follow the manual for periodic filter checks and servicing — clean or replace filters on schedule to maintain consistent oxygen purity and flow. Keep the unit well-ventilated and free of dust.

Checking seals, zippers and valves

  • Inspect zippers and seals on soft chambers for wear and keep them clean
  • Check hoses and connectors for a snug, secure fit
  • Test that safety and relief valves operate freely
  • On hard-shell chambers, check the door seal and locking mechanism
  • Keep viewing windows clean and scratch-free

Catching small issues early — a worn seal, a loose connector — prevents bigger problems and keeps pressure stable. Good upkeep also supports the safety systems that protect every session.

A simple routine

Clinics running high session volumes should inspect more often. Keep the manual handy and log any servicing.

When to get help
